I've just joined the forum. I’m the proud owner of a 1997 2.8 Z3.

I’m definitely not an expert when it comes to cars, but its a keen interest of mine and I’m learning more.

I’ve already tackled a couple of the more common fixes - replaced the seat runner bushings to stop the seat wobble, and re-sealed the vapour barriers in both doors.

I've had to pull out the carpets, whilst I investigated a leak, as when I got the car the carpets were soaked through.

There is still one leak remaining (I think) between the rear roof tensioner, but I've seen a thread on here about re-sealing that area.

I’m really looking forward to learning more, getting stuck into future projects and hopefully contributing if/where I can.

I've had to pull out the carpets, whilst I investigated a leak, as when I got the car the carpets were soaked through.

Yeah they do that.....often! And that foam can hold 374 gallons of water. I measured it when I got mine.
Just check any electrical stuff under the carpet hasn't corroded due to moisture ingress. Both my yaw sensors were waterlogged which cost a fair few quid to replace. Not sure if yours has them, as it will have ASC, not DSC.

I have no idea who made the bar, sadly. I was told by the previous owner that its German-made and was around £400, but who knows! I cannot see any branding on it...

It was absolutely sopping wet! I had thought it would have been a good idea to weigh it. What a great method of weight reduction!

I've pulled the carpets up and fortunately (and shockingly) there is no rust and the wires are all fine - it must have been new water.

I've recently had a diagnostic and there are no fault codes, so hopefully yaw sensors are okay... I'm not sure I even have them.

Good news if you have no corroded wiring and no faults. You may have dodged a bullet there.

Where abouts are you in Bucks? I was bon and dragged up in that fine County. Moved away just 15 years ago, but I am still a 'Bucksy Boy'.

Milton Keynes - I can drive fast for around 7-10 seconds between each roundabout!
