Engine won’t start

Hi i bought this z3 acouple weeks ago and just now got a my obd scanner in. Here are the codes it’s throwing. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried after taking note of all displayed faults delete them all and try start see what codes return straight away.

Have you tried to start in neutral.
Your fault code tie back to the box

The engine doesn't crank? The last picture is, I think, the main reason. Timeout of the DME. I think the connection has been lost from the alarm/immobilizer.

It will crank and idle for 1-5 seconds then stall out
My tac is not working

IME if it starts then dies my money is on the MAF sensor. Disconnect it and try again. Has happened to me a few times.
The MAF is on the air hose between the air filter and the throttle body. (Sorry if you knew that.)
Others may blame the crank or cam position sensors- mine were OK.

when I disconnect the MAF sensor it cranks and idles just fine except my tac doesn’t work

edit: it also seems to not have full power either

Are the air hoses between the MAF and the throttle body OK? They are known to perish and replacements are cheap and easy to find on eBay, etc.

They seem to be fine but I don’t know if I check them all on the right side of the engine.
I do know I have an air leak on the left side of the engine. There is a hole in the secondary air pump hose I should be getting the new hose in for it tonight.

If you mean the air hose on the exhaust side of the engine- no need to bother because that system is not required in UK. It just blows air into the exhaust for the first 30 seconds after start-up to lessen emissions. I haven't removed mine yet but I have the blanking plate ready.

if you're not in the US I would blank the pump off and throw it away. @t-tony had blanking plates at one point.

The DME (engine computer) can not talk to the EGS (auto transmission computer). There is an electrical fault.

Get your wiring diagrams that match the build date for your Z3 from the "Resources" section of this forum. See blue ribbon at the top of your screen.

Check fuses. Check connectors that sort of basic work. Had a rodent nest in the engine bay/wiring?

I have the hose which I removed from my Z3 if you can't get one.

Checked all the fuses, all came back good but I think I might be missing some (2001 z3 3.0i)
