You Could put a shout out on here for someone local to you with a scanner as many will help a Zer in distress,
Your avatar doesn't give us a clue what area you in.
Look on the internet there's plenty to choose from at around £15 upwards. If doing all your own maintenance then a good one is a god send, basic ones will allow you to read and then reset to see if it's a fault that has to be dealt with asap. Your. Z3 has two location for scan reader connection, one under the bonnet which will allow most info from the vehicle and one under the steering wheel OBD2 which will only give engine faults. So to do a complete scan you'll need a adapter for the under bonnet connector.

:stop:You'll need a scanner that can read ABS etc as some don't.!!!!!!!!!!:stop:

The adapter, this one under a £5. Two readers both under £30. All on ebay.

It's your choice how much info you think you could deal with from a scanner, most cheaper ones are pretty user friendly and easy to use.
Had one similar for my Z3 and couldn't live without it. Worth there weight in gold if you don't want to keep visiting
your local BMW agent. You could probably get a reader from your local car shop but the adapter might be a bit more elusive.
Hope this helps.

@Greybloke if your car is a pre facelift those scanners might not be able to access the ABS module. They don't work on either of my cars.

INPA I knew it was something like that and it has been used on both my 98 1.9 pre face lift and on my 2002 3L. Geoff
Forgot to say that we are a bit far a part for a quick loan as I am in Somerset
Your problem sounds like a bad/dirty connection on wheel sensors but I am no expert just what I have picked up from my own problems
